Reach ViDoc 1: Once More Unto The Breach
Wow, once again, Bungie is knocking it out of the park.
* Open environments
* Melee assassinations
* Player + 4 Spartans + 8 marines + 30-ish enemies in one encounter = OMG HELL YES GIVE ME NOW

Pretty neat...my only concern is that they seem to be promising A LOT!, and at the risk of retreading on an argument, I'd say that the 360 is fairly close to it's limit. My first nitpic is that since this is pre-Halo, why are the weapons more diverse/better? Shouldn't it be worse?
I have my fingers crossed though.
Oh yeah in that movie one dude was using evil Quicktime Player! Booo-urns!

Nice video, got me pretty excited. I'm glad they made ODST, even if not everyone was a big fan of it. Reach seems to expand on all the ideas they were experimenting with in ODST, such as better character developing.
As far as the more advanced looking weapons, I'm sure they could justify it a bunch of different ways. They always seem to try at least

Why is there an alien species we have never seen before? I've heard the official explanation (they get whiped out!), but we all know these inconsistencies are for gameplay purposes.
I like what I see, but nothing mindblowing at this stage.

It looks like it's coming along, and after watching that I'm a little more excited for the game. I can't wait for the multiplayer beta.

There are always going to be ways to optimise a game engine, both in terms of efficient code and using tricks that a player shouldn't notice. But the way they are talking about Reach makes it sound like it's running on another generation of hardware. More AI, more physics, better animation, more particles, 4 times as many polys on models, faster engine, it's like the jump from Halo 2 to 3! But the Halo CE to 2 jump was pretty huge also. I wonder if the lighting or other effects will suffer. Halo 2 did almost everything visually better than CE, but did have the horrible texture loading pop-up and the micro-detail on things like rocks was lost.

I imagine the stuff that's harder to manufacture will be phased out during the course of a war. Like PS3s with PS2 backwards compatibility and Linux support

At bloody last !
This is the BUNGiE that I remember from the X-Box . Now that's what a 360 FPS exclusive should look like . I've always said the models and HALO III engine was lacking and bit poor , and at last BUNGiE have steped up to the plate. Looks incredible, the Draw distance , sky and weapon effects just look so so good .

I agree, but unlike HALO III. HALO was a launch title , yet still look incredible and better than most X-Box fps (and PC's for that matter) for a awfully long time.
HALO III even though it came way after the 360 shipped , looked rather poor (bar some stunning lighting )
