Can you take your existing Xbox HDD and put it into a new Xbox and have it work without needing to do anything?

Not in my case. I took my 120GB HDD from my busted Elite- and used it w/ my replacement elite (new system). Anything I've purchased on live will not work- borderlands DLC, 100's of Rock Band songs- it sucks if I wanted to game offline. But since I rarely take my system anywhere, and usually have a good connection - it's not a problem- but this is so LAME. Your purchase history is IN YOUR GAMERTAG DATA. It should see that- and see the content- and you're fine. Now if the gamertag that bought the content is not on SAID system - that would present a probelm IMHO.

Got another system back. It's not as quiet as my dead Elite. :( This one has a service date of Feb 2010.

Yeah, I noticed that the laser mechanism in my replacement system seems to make more noise than my original system.

Too true, but sony isn't much better.. I've had nothing but problems (with the exception of a tv) with their products.. then they want me to PAY 150 dollars to fix my ps3? ha ha!

MS are in a different league , I'm on my 5th 360 and MS asked £80 to fix my last 360 (you couldn't make it up) . Sony's record is far from perfect (though the PSP is quite good_) , but nothing to that of the 360 .

The problem I have is they have fixed other peoples PS3s that are out of warranty for free, but yet want me to pay 150 which I refuse to do.. sad because I like the system..

I don't thinks a problem with moving parts . My Saturn, GameCube, Neo Geo CD are near bullet proof , if not for the poor Thomas DVD Drive , so would have been the X-Box.
I just think MS rushed the 360 out , and just put the GPU in a very poor place .

I know a few people that have had issued with the BluRay Drive in their PS3 , but almost everyone I know that owns a 360 is on at least their 2nd 360 , its a downright shameful record , and one that I can't believe, 5 year on , Is still happing
